COMPARATIVE ENFORCEMENT OF FUNDAMENTAL RIGHTS IN NIGERIA AND INDIA - BOOK REVIEW
BOOK TITLE
BY CHUKWUNONSO DANIEL OGBE
This is a
well researched book that tries to capture the precepts and practices of
fundamental rights enforcement from two different perspectives and
jurisdictions. Fundamental rights enforcement is no doubt a very complex area of law and
in a nutshell is the nugget of protecting and preserving the rights of every one
and the rule of law. The writer in my view is well grounded particularly in this
area of law, he is definitely not a stranger. He has without doubt traversed
the turbulent atmosphere of the fundamental rights enforcement laws having traversed the Nigerian as well as the Indian procedures which I must add is quite innovative.
A well
written book, with an impressive style of writing. The book is made up of about
409 pages including sample drafts and supported by about 204 authorities and 12
statutes.
The author
makes a strong case for the enforce-ability of Chapter 2 of the constitution of
the federal republic of Nigeria 1999 (as amended), which has always been an area
of enshrouded in controversies.
